Edge of the Earth (Ocean) — Textured Blue and White Impressionist Ocean Artwork with Mythological Shamanic Sea Goddess, Original Sensory Alchemy Oil & Relief on Linen, 80×110 cm
This highly textured original artwork on linen canvas offers a breathtaking exploration of ancient Buryat mythology and the deep mysteries of Lake Baikal — historically revered as a sacred, boundless inland sea. Created as part of a conceptual series exploring ancient beliefs through the method of mental archaeology, the narrative brings Mother Earth to life. Standing at the shoreline where the crashing deep blue and turquoise waves meet the sky, she wears the divine horns of the sacred cow, with fresh water springs flowing from her garments. She opens her arms to the sky, engaging with mysterious birds in an eternal silent dialogue between the finite and the infinite.

The Myth
Ocean. This painting is part of the 2019 series Four Elements of the Silk Road — an exploration of ancient beliefs through the method of mental archaeology. It is inspired by Buryat mythology and the image of Baikal — the sea that was never merely a lake.
In ancient times, it was called a sea. Or even an ocean. And it still is. They said there was no land on the far shore — only spirits, and that one goes there once, never to return. Whether this is true or not — who knows. But shamans sometimes come to the very edge of the water to hold long conversations with the elements — with the earth, the water, and the boundless sky itself.
To this day, in the 21st century, Mother Earth meets the vast expanse of water here. On her head — the horns of the divine cow. From her hem and sleeves, springs burst forth. She opens her arms, asking a question to the Boundless Sky. And from the sky, unfamiliar birds come flying to her — not with answers, but with new questions.
A myth or a memory — I cannot say. But this is surely a dialogue that has lasted forever. Of the meeting between the finite and the infinite. Of the truth that even at the edge — there is continuation — if you fall silent and simply listen to the silence.
The rich, varnished impasto and relief textures create a stunning dimensional effect that beautifully captures the dynamic movement of the water and the atmospheric light of the sky. With its captivating palette of indigo, turquoise, lavender, and soft gold, this majestic artwork makes an exquisite focal point for modern living rooms, upscale offices, or coastal-inspired spaces. It serves as a sophisticated investment for discerning art collectors or an unforgettable luxury gift for those drawn to spiritual folklore, mythology, and maritime beauty.
