Moon Dance — Original Sensory Alchemy Oil & Gold Leaf on Linen, Arctic Fjord Painting, 40×80 cm
The idea for this artwork emerged after the artist's two-week journey through Northern Norway in 2019. The enchanted vistas of winding fjords, tiny houses nestled in valleys, and mighty mountains with glaciers were first captured in a series of travel sketches. Then, two years later, they gave rise to a new painting series. For the artist, the North is always resonant with sound — full of a unique symphony. This is why the paintings in this series are built on the principle of synesthesia, a characteristic feature of her other works as well. Here, she transforms the landscape into a semi-abstract, voluminous, and deep space, while adding powerful texture through relief elements that grow out from the canvas plane.

The Myth
The invisible harmony of a natural phenomenon.
The painting Moon Dance is a visual sonata where the rhythm of the classical music of the northern lights sets the tempo. Sharp golden strokes across the textured surface become musical notes, slicing through the darkness of the fjord, while the white crescent of the moon serves as a rest — a silence at the heart of cosmic resonance.
The main protagonists of this narrative are the sharp rhythms of the northern lights and a crystalline sliver of the moon reflected in the waters of the fjord.
The work explores synesthesia as the highest form of cognition, translating the invisible harmony of a natural phenomenon into the language of precious matter — accessible for direct, almost tactile perception.
The painting became part of the artist's personal Art & Science project, Art as a Method of Cognition. This project was presented at the St. Petersburg Planetarium in 2022 through an exhibition and a lecture accompanied by scientific experiments illustrating the principles of light, electricity, and magnetism.
An exceptional acquisition for collectors drawn to the intersection of art and science, and for those who seek works that translate the invisible into the tangible.
